Michelle is the only other female programmer working on Mythic Quest. Part of Poppy Li's team, she is sarcastic and apathetic towards her job.
Biography[]
Michelle works as a programmer at Mythic Quest Studios. To prove a point that he was needed, Head of Monetization Brad Bakshi told the entire programming team that without him the studio would not have enough money to pay a full programming team and sent them home. Michelle remained behind, and when Poppy Li and David Brittlesbee arrived in the coder's room, she told them that they were probably realizing that they needed Brad. Poppy told her to shut up, and Michelle admitted that Brad paid her a thousand dollars to say that.[1]
Along with the rest of the programming team, Michelle was unenthusiastic about the release of Poppy's new social feature, Dinner Party. When it appeared to be a success after Poppy used it to organise a peaceful protest against a group of Nazis in the game, Michelle pointed out that the Nazis had used it to organise their own event: a raid on Poppy's peaceful gathering.[2]
A group from Girls Can Code took a tour of the Mythic Quest Studios office; David Brittlesbee took them to the coder's room to find women working at the company and found Michelle working on her resume. David asked her to talk to the girls about her experiences as a women in tech, and she told them the brutal truth that the girls in the group were each other's competition, that they would have to work harder than the men, and that they would hate the other women they work with.[3]
