"Everlight" was the second of two special episodes released between season 1 and season 2 of Mythic Quest. "Everlight" came within just a few weeks of the start of the second season.
Synopsis[]
The staff return to the offices in order to celebrate Everlight, a holiday within the game of Mythic Quest.
Plot[]
On the first day back to the office after the COVID-19 pandemic, the gang stage their annual "Everlight" celebration. Now co-equals at the company, Poppy and Ian are the King and Queen of the costumed festivities, and they preside over the ensuing tournament.
As co-workers assume their role-played identities, they also take their place on the tournament leader-board, battling each other with fake weapons but real enthusiasm.
The only person not amused is Brad, who bets that he can vanquish all other opponents -- on the premise that Everlight will end -- in-game and out -- if he wins. As he takes his place on the "battlefield", in reality just the redecorated office floor, he reveals that he's a champion fencer who "minored in archery".
After he defeats all his other co-workers, Poppy suggests that the only people still eligible to play are herself an Ian. She thinks they need to take on Brad for the morale of the rest of the staff, but Ian is reluctant. As he's told her, the bosses should never actually play in the tournament. But she persists, and they soon join the battle. After a tough match -- which the two imagine happening in an extended dream sequence -- they prevail. Brad loses and Everlight is preserved for another year.
